EUTIC Annual General Meeting (18.03.10) |
The most important event of the year takes place this Thursday as the
annual EUTIC AGM will be held in Lecture Theatre 5 in Appleton Tower
with a prompt start time of 6.30pm. Note the change of Lecture Theatre
this week (5 and NOT 4). Tim will start the event with a speech in which
he will review the year that has gone by and the many great things
EUTIC has achieved during this time. The EUTIC AGM will bear witness to
the making or breaking of many young hopefuls as they attempt to secure a
place on the 2010/2011 EUTIC Committee. In addition to this, elections
for each of our important sector head positions will take place. To
clarify we will be very strict regarding the length of each election
speech. Each candidate will have one minute to talk for each of their
first pitches. Should you need to make a subsequent pitch for another
position you will be reduced to 30 seconds. This is done for the benefit
of the audience as we don’t want the AGM to “drag on” as it has in
years past.
After the AGM, we will all be making the short
journey to 56 North where we will be hosting the biggest **free** drinks
event of the year as our Treasurer Will has agreed to a large bar tab
which will be enjoyed by all.
As an introductory hors d'oeuvre of
life on the EUTIC Committee, there will be an all expenses paid
delicious dinner taking place at 9pm for the newly elected 10/11
Committee and the outgoing 09/10 Committee. This means that if you are
putting your candidacy forward for any positions then please keep your
evening free afterwards.
Before the elections take place we will
be awarding prizes for contributions to the society this year. Firstly,
the £100 cash prize for best presentation will be handed over. We have
had some tremendous speakers this year so if you have stood in front of
the society at any of our main meeting this year and presented a topic
then make sure to come along because you are in contention for the
prize. Following this we will be awarding prizes to the sectors for
their great work this year. These will be Best Sector, Best Research
Proposal and Best Performing Stock.
To finish the night we will
be in Po Na Na where we will have our complimentary table and bottles of
vodka, so please feel free to come along. Look forward to seeing many
of you on Thursday.
